Plants are living breathing organisms, just as us. Although they hold many differences from one another, they are all capable of transporting water, minerals, and produce sugar through photosynthesis. As well as, able to respond to environmental factors, such as light, gravity, competition, temperature, and predation. Imagine that! Plants do this on the daily! They embrace change; for they can adapt to optimize their growth and reproduction.

Plants are also made of organs. Their organs consist of roots, stems, leaves, and reproductive structures. And like us, their organs are made up of tissues. The tissues in turn, are constructed of specialized cells+ and contain specific organelles.

More information on plant types and structures.

It is safe to say that humans and plants are comparable to some extent:

  • Both roots and capillaries are very thin structures.
  • Roots intake water and nutrients from the source so that then the stem can distribute throughout the plant.
  •  Capillaries help distribute elements throughout the arteries and veins.
  •  The stem is comparable to arteries, in the sense that they both distribute these nutrients away from the source intake.
  • Just like skin, the leaves of the plant let you know whether the organism is hydrated or dehydrated. If the plant is sensitive to direct sunlight, the leaves can burn. This is similar to us if we stand under the sun for too long.
  • Flowers represent the reproduction system, as that's how a plant fertilizes and produces seeds to then create offspring.
