The way that we rest is the way that we function. It is important to have a consistent good night’s rest and the reason why is because without rest we are less focused, have less energy, tend to forget more, and overall, not in a good mood.
There is an immense variety of plants that help with sleep. The interesting part about this is that many plants help in different unique ways. While there are plants that help with purifying the air and removing toxins
that interfere with your rest; there are other plants that release relaxing aromas that help with stress, anxiety, and overall help you have restful sleep. What a lot of people don’t realize is that there are a lot of toxins that initially conflict with our physiological balance.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are gasses that are emitted into the air from products or processes. They can be very harmful. Some of these VOCs include:
Trichloroethylene: Industrial product found in paints, varnish, dry cleaning and adhesives.
Benzene: Found in gasoline, oils, rubbers and plastics.
Formaldehyde: Water-soluble organic compound found in grocery bags, facial tissues, cleaning agents and paper towels.
Xylene: A chemical found in tobacco smoke, rubber, paint and vehicle exhaust.
Ammonia: Commonly found in household cleaners, floor wax and fertilizers.
With the reduction of these toxins in the atmosphere, we can rest better because we can breathe better. Some plants that can help with this as well as have aromatherapeutic qualities are listed below as well as with some brief care tips:
