Don’t we have something special for y’all today. Wow, who’d of thought you could have a real life elephant ear? Well, elephant earplantthat is. Way better. Way, way better. TheAfrican Mask Alocasia Polly is really something special.
Daring with is rich, leafy greens hanging around its stem just like, well, elephant ears. We love it. You’re going to adore this beauty too once you get a few more tid-bits of knowledge about it. Lucky for you, we’re here to provide just that.
Like a lot of us, this baby is from the warmer, more humid temperatures. When you think of her, think rainforests. Lush environments and water and good light, where frost isn’t going to be much of an issue, is where the Polly flourishes.
That being said, the Polly- specifically theAlocasia x amazonica is often found in the US as a houseplant (amazing, we know!) so you’re just got to be a little tender to her. What does this mean. Well, awesome question! If you ever found a lady like her in your life, what you’d need to do is water the water and watch the sun and bring her in from the cold.
We find thata lot of people let her be the star that she is, lounging on their patio. That’s great! So if planted in your garden or resting in your living room.
So, you sold yet? Is the Polly the plant-version of you? Are you so in love you can’t see straight? Not yet?
Wow, you’re a tough sell today. But not to worry! We’ve got a couple more tricks (they’re fun facts; the tricks are fun facts) up our sleeves.
Fun fact number one is that this plant makes super super amazing hybrids. Fun fact number two is that the Polly is not feeling the North if she’s outdoors- like we said! She’s a big fan of warmer weather. We can’t say we blame her.
Finally, fun fact number three is that the Polly is a seasonal bloomer. We’re in love.
Okay, if you’ve ever got any plant questions, send them our way!
