SPIDER PLANT CARE TIPS:

Maintenance: easy

Sunlight
  1. Prefer scorching sunlight
  2. Artificial light is fine as long as the lights are bright
  3. Direct sun encourages growth
  4. May grow in semi-shady areas but needs light
Water
  1. Water them until the soil is very wet
  2. Water them once a week
  3. They need enough water but the common cause of death is over watering
  4. Refer to troubleshoot blog if you feel they are drying. It usually means they need more water.

Fertilizer
  1. Good natural at-home-emergency fertilizer options for orchids are eggshells, potatoes, Epsom salt, etc… (Please refer to our DIY blog post on fertilizer).
  2. Fertilize three to four times a year
  3. All-purpose liquid houseplant food works during the growing season.
  4. Occasional watering with diluted coffee is beneficial to spider plant, helping to achieve their ideal soil pH of 6.1 to 6.5. The recommended ratio of coffee to water is one part coffee to three parts water.
Temperature:

For best growth, temperature should range between 70 and 90°F. They are able to tolerate temperatures as low as 35°F without damage, but plants will not grow much at temperatures below 65°F

Bloom

Spider plants do occasionally develop small white flowers at the ends of their long arching stems. Many times these flowers are so short lived and inconspicuous that they go completely unnoticed.

For plants to bloom, make sure to place low dosage of fertilizer.
